Applying for CME Approval

The Public Health Consortium accepts applications for CME credit only from partner organizations and those which have an Advisory Committee member on their planning committee.

Approval for CME credit must be received prior to the activity taking place. Applicants may never publish or announce that "AMA PRA credit has been applied for" until approval has been granted by the Public Health Consortium.

CME Application Deadlines

Applications are reviewed by the Consortium Advisory Committee at quarterly committee meetings. An application—with all required items—is due six weeks before committee meetings.

2008 application deadlines for quarterly meetings are as follows:

  • January 30, 2008 for March 12, 2008 meeting
  • April 30, 2008 for June 11, 2008 meeting
  • July 30, 2008 for September 10, 2008 meeting
  • October 29, 2008 for December 10, 2008 meeting

The Public Health Consortium Office reserves the right to reject an application that is missing several or major items, or charge an additional fee ("late fee") for applications that are missing required items. Applications that are not complete at least two weeks prior to the Advisory committee meeting date will be rejected automatically.

Technical assistance in completing an application and its components is provided by the Consortium Office. Email: mailto:sph-cme@umich.edu.

After-Program Requirements

After Program Requirements (APRs) and the CME processing fee are due within 30 days of completion of each Public Health Consortium-sponsored event. If an activity has multiple dates or events, then the activity coordinator may request that the multiple APRs be submitted in groups.

Fees

  • Application fee: Applicants must submit a $100 application fee with the initial application.
  • Late fee: A $50 late fee may be assessed if the initial application is missing required items.
  • CME processing fee: A processing fee of $10 per physician awarded Category I credit will be collected. This fee is due with After Program Requirements.

Fees may be paid by check or journal entry (University of Michigan entities only). Purchase orders are not accepted by the Public Health Consortium.
