CBPH Funding Supplements

The SPH-Community-Based Public Health Committee is pleased to announce the release of the 2009-10 academic year Request for Funding Supplements to enhance the curriculum at SPH.  This funding, provided by the Dean's Office, help faculty enhance the role of community approaches to public health practice or incorporate diversity competencies in the School's curriculum.

  • Up to $1000 is available per application
  • Funding applies to courses offered no later than Winter Term, 2010
  • Funding supplements are available throughout the year on a continuous basis for:
  • Honoraria to be paid to community-based persons or organizations who participate as guest lecturers or in other capacities in connection with a course or program;
  • Reimbursed travel expenses enabling community-based persons to participate in classes/programs or enabling students to visit/work with a community-based organization related to a SPH course/program;
  • Other limited curriculum expenses related to community-based public health.

Requirements and Desired Characteristics for Funding Supplement Applications
All proposals must satisfy one or more goals and objectives.

It is desirable that courses and programs expose students to community public health issues and either bring community leadership to the classroom or afford students opportunities to work in the field.

It is desirable that courses and programs be evaluated, revised as needed, and offered as an ongoing part of the school's curriculum.

On-Campus and On-Job-On-Campus courses are eligible to receive mini-grant support.

Independent Studies courses are also eligible provided there is intent to convert successful courses into pilot and ultimately permanent courses.
