(Aug. 2011) Crosswalk: Michigan LPH Accreditation Program and PHAB’s National Accreditation Program

To aid in understanding how Michigan’s ongoing state-wide accreditation work may be used to support and assist in meeting national voluntary accreditation through PHAB, the Michigan Public Health Training Center (MPHTC) funded a Crosswalk of the two programs. The Crosswalk was developed by Mary Kushion, MSA. (Download PDF of Crosswalk)

(Aug. 2011) Archived Webcasts Available from the “Envisioning the Future: Michigan’s Health Departments & National Public Health Accreditation” conference


The Michigan Public Health Training Center, part of the Practice Office, hosted a conference on national accreditation on June 28, 2011 in East Lansing, Michigan. Selected presentations are now available as archived webcasts.  Meeting notes are also available.

(July 2011) 5 Michigan health departments receiving grants for CHA/CHIP projects from MPHTC

Grant awards were made to:
  • Central Michigan District Health Department
  • District Health Department # 10
  • Kent County Health Department
  • Marquette County Health Department
  • Mid - Michigan District Health Department

This funding program was open to local public health departments in Michigan and awards grants to support community health assessment and community health improvement plan projects.  The Michigan Public Health Training Center (MPHTC) is committed to assisting LHDs in successful accreditation applications, and is pleased to initiate this new program supported by MPHTC HRSA grant collaborative funds.  Complete information about the Michigan Public Health Training Center’s award program, Awards to Support Community Health Assessment & Community Health Improvement Plan (CHA/CHIP) Projects in Preparation for National Accreditation Review is provided in the following link.
