Trish Koman to serve as mentor for "Reach the Decision Makers Fellowship"
Office of Public Health Practice's Trish Koman has been selected as a mentor by the University of California San Francisco for a Michigan-based team including University of Michigan faculty, graduate students and community members as part of the Reach the Decision Makers Fellowship.
Trish was selected as a mentor because of her extensive experience working for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, including leading initiatives such as Clean Ports USA programs, initiating the Clean School Bus USA program, and managing multi-disciplinary benefit-cost analyses, regulatory programs, and technological innovation initiatives designed to significantly reduce diesel exposures nationwide under the Clean Air Act and Energy Policy Act.
As a mentor, Trish will guide the Michigan team throughout the year-long program which provides scientists, community leaders and health care providers with the skills to effectively promote science-based public health policy at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The Michigan team hopes to reduce further diesel exposures in Michigan by outreach to decision makers in Washington, D.C.
