Description
The primary goal of this course is to highlight an evidence-based approach to decision making. The relationship between data and program or policy initiatives is discussed, with a focus on the effective and systematic use of data. Participants will be able to use data to develop a brief statement of the problem, describe the issue quantitatively, and develop data-based program or policy options. The course is designed for those who need to use data in their daily work but may not have considerable training in the use of data.
This is an online, mentored course that provides narrated presentations, readings, and hands-on exercises over seven weeks. Course registration fee includes course binder containing readings and assignments (if mailed within the US), a CD-ROM with course media, access to the online course management system, toll-free conference calls with instructor and fellow participants, as well as learning and technical support.
