Certificate of Competency
Upon successful completion of each Training Center course, participants will receive a Michigan Public Health Training Center Certificate of Competency evidencing their mastery of the competencies taught in the course. Competencies are identified by the instructor of the course, and are based upon the framework of Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals as adopted by the Council on Linkages between Academia and Public Health Practice.
Participants in onsite courses must attend all course sessions and successfully complete all assignments to receive a Certificate of Competency; participants in online courses must demonstrate participation in the course, and successfully complete all assignments to receive a certificate.

Nursing contact hours
Office of Public Health Practice, University of Michigan School of Public Health is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Wisconsin Nurses Association Continuing Education Approval Program Committee, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Certified Health Education Specialists (CECH) for CHES The Office of Public Health Practice at the University of Michigan School of Public Health is approved as a provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH), Category I in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC) through December 31, 2012, pending re-review in the interim. Please see individual course descriptions for information regarding CECH availability for a course.
Social Work continuing education credits
The Michigan Public Health Training Center, School of Public Health University of Michigan, provider # 1168, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Michigan Public Health Training Center, School of Public Health University of Michigan maintains responsibility for the program.
ACE approval by the ASWB is recognized by many states, including Michigan, for social work continuing education. Some states that accept ACE approval may have exceptions in terms of courses they will accept. Please remember that the final authority for approving a continuing education activity rests with the state where you are licensed. Licensed social workers should consult their individual state boards to review continuing education requirements for licensure renewal. Participants must satisfactorily complete course requirements to receive continuing education credit.
All participants requesting social work credits must complete courses and all course requirements. MPHTC is an approved provider for social work credits through : April 30, 2012.
